New Delhi: The Udyam registration portal has recorded a significant milestone, with over 7.83 crore enterprises registering on the platform, reflecting a strong growth trend in formalisation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India.
A revised definition based on composite criteria of investment and turnover was adopted in 2020 to classify MSMEs. Following this, the Udyam registration portal (Udyam Registration Portal – URP) was launched on July 1, 2020, to streamline the registration process. To further formalise Informal Micro Enterprises (IMEs), the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP) was introduced on January 11, 2023.
Since the adoption of the revised classification framework, the Udyam registration portal along with UAP has enabled over 7.83 crore enterprises to register as of February 28, 2026, showcasing a steady rise in participation.
The state-wise details of registered MSMEs are provided in Annexure-I.
